2-3-Simple Plan nominated for JUNO Awards

It seems to me like yesterday, when Simple Plan won in 2006 their first ever JUNO award - "Fan Choice Award". And this year, they received 2 nominations!

Yes, Simple Plan were nominated in 2 categories:

Group of the year
(nominated: Great Big Sea, Nickelback, Simple Plan, The Threws, Tokyo Police Club)

Album of the year
(nominated: Hedley, Lost Fingers, Nickelback, Simple Plan, Sylvain Cossette)

Apart from that, it was confirmed that Simple Plan will be also performing on this year's JUNO awards - on March 29th!

2-2-Generation Zine - a SP fans' fanzine!

And now great news - Rachael from OSP.com prepared (with help of SP fans) the first ever release of a Simple Plan's fanzine - a magazine from fans to fans!

The first issue of the zine, which is called Generation Zine, was released yesterday and it's only about Pierre. You can read here a lot of stuff about him, what fans think about him, stories, crosswords, quizes, photos and much more.

You can also find out how to say some basic sentences in many languages (i added the czech ones). :)

01-28-Pierre sings on the new MC Lars record!

Thanks to Julie for letting us know about the news that Pierre from Simple Plan sings on the new record of the american rapper MC Lars (who was once, by the way, opening for SP) - on the song "It's Not Easy (Being Green)" from the album "This Gigantic Robot Kills", where he sings on the chorus.

Thesong is not available yet - the album will be released on February24th. But according to Julie the song is great and really funny!

I guess we have something to look forward!

01-26-Yesterday's performance on All-Star Game

As I informed you few days ago, the guys participated the famous All-Star Game in Canada yesterday. On Saturday, they only watched the game and on Sunday they hit the stage during the break.
SP'sperformance was full of very interesting moments - not only becauseChuck was wearing Ovechkin's dress and Seb his own t-shirt/dress ofMontreal Canadians, but also David finally showed his new haircut(check it out on one of the photos in our gallery) and he startedstripping in the middle of the performance - he took his pants andsocks off.

01-25-Translation of the France Video

I posted the video from sp.fr today, here's a translation fo what the guys have to say about each other. It can't be guaranteed that everything is translated correctly!

J: David had a great personality. But yeah he has his head in the clouds. He’s all over the place.

P: David’s like a butterfly that just flutters around. He’s a little…he’s funny.

C: He’s a little eccentric. He’s full of…he always wants to make people laugh. He always likes to draw attention to himself. Even outside of the band he likes to be the centre of attention. He makes things more interesting.

D: Pierre’s always able to have fun and party anywhere with anyone. And I admire that a lot. He can be with guys, or with guys and girls, but even just with us we can have some wine and just talk for hours.

C: There’s two extremes he can be the party guy who goes out, who drinks, who parties, or on other days he can be calm, if his voice is acting up he can be more responsible. He’s a really good composer, of course. We work together a lot because we write the music together and we hang out a lot.

J: He’s a guy who loves life, he loves to party, he’s a very talented musician. I think he tries to keep a good balance between work and his music and with our work it can be intense and you have to have fun and you have to be able to handle both and Pierre’s good at that. He’s also the mediator in the group. He has a personality but there’s 4 other guys in the group who have big personalities. There’s times when egos crash but in general, Pierre’s the mediator.

P: Chuck’s more on the business side of things. The manager.

J: He’s the worker, passionate, intense, very intense. If there’s something that needs to get done Charles’ the one who’s there pushing everyone else. A very big motivation, a very big disciplinarian.

D: He’s very, very serious. But more and more, he’s starting to be less serious.

C: Seb’s the nicest one, very calm. He never gets mad, never gets frustrated against anything. He’s more passive than anyone else.

D: Seb can amuse himself with anything, video games, on tour.

P: Seb and I are very much alike. So we get along well.

J: He’s like a kid. He watches cartoons all the time. He can recite the lines perfectly from the Simpsons, Family Guy. Really nice, one of the best personalities of SP.

S: What did you say… (didn’t really understand him)

J: I said you had nice blue eyes.

S: Awesome!

D: Jeff, I’ve never seen anyone practice as much as him. He practices like 3 hours a day. I have no idea how he does it.

P: He plays the guitar all the time.

C:  He’s very passionate about what he does whether it’s playing guitar, spending hours figuring out new tricks, he always thinks there’s something new to learn so he always tries.

There is a new article about Delta Goodrem's appearance in the newest Simple Plan's music video - Save You.

Are you wondering, why you never saw Delta in this music video? Well, it's maybe because she only appears in the 3rd edit of the video, which you can watch here. The only difference between the versions are only the appearances of the cancer survivors in the end of the video.

Except this 3rd version, there is also some other new stuff on the special Save You website on simpleplan.com - there are new photographs from the shooting of the Save You video, which, even though their size is really small, they are definitely worth seeing:

Delta Goodrem features in the new video for Simple Plan

For ‘Save You’, the canadian rock band wanted to make an inspirational video featuring cancer survivors. They asked Delta Goodrem and Sharon Osbourne to assist.

"It was a pleasure to be invited to support Simple Plan in their crusade to make a difference in the fight against cancer,” Delta said in a statement.

The song was written about lead singer Pierre Bouvier’s brother Jay who was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma cancer at the age of 18.

His illness inspired Simple Plan to include cancer awareness as an initiative of the Simple Plan Foundation. The charity has raised more than $200,000.

Simple Plan said, “We wanted this video to tell Jay’s story and the ones of all cancer survivors. We want to show how strong people can be when facing adversity and hardship and how resilient the human mind and body can be. We wanted to relay a message of hope, survival and courage.”

Proceeds from the sale of the song will be distributed to cancer charities.

A Czech TV channel - ČT2 - broadcast today at 10:35am a Christianity documentary for youth called Exit 316 - Mission: How to get parents into reform school. A part of this documentary was also the music video by Simple Plan - Perfect - along with Czech subtitles!

We love to see the fun you’re having at the M&G and Soundcheck Parties but we’d also love to HEAR (or read) about your experiences! We also love seeing you guys representing the SPCrew by wearing your laminates!! Remember though, the laminates are for you to show people that we’re part of the SPCrew family. They do NOT provide admission to shows or access to backstage. 11-07 - WANT A CHANCE TO ATTEND TRL FINALE?

On November 16th, 2008 MTV will be celebrating TRL’s final show with performances by artists such as Fall Out Boy, Beyonce, Backstreet Boys, 50 Cent and more.

Simple Plan will not be at the show but TRL knows that we have the best fans around and would love it if you could be there to rock out at the final TRL show.  To request tickets send an e-mail to trlcasting@mtvstaff.com .

We need your help! Music Choice knows that we have the best, coolest and most reliable fan club members and are giving you the chance to attend a special "shoot" in NYC tomorrow!

Seems they are doing a "shoot" related to their music awards TOMORROW in New York City and need some bodies.  Note - Simple Plan is NOT involved in any way with this shoot and will NOT be in attendance.

10-10 - SIMPLY REINVENTING HOCKEY

A childhood dream come true… Simple Plan has been given the honor of being the first in a series of Canadian bands to re-record and put their twist on Canada’s Second National Anthem, The Hockey Theme. The guys are recording as we speak and their reinvented, rock version of the classic theme will debut during the Boston @ Montreal NHL game on TSN and RDS on Wednesday, Oct. 15 at 7:30 pm ET! If you happen to miss it then, Simple Plan’s version of “The Hockey Theme” will be used in TSN and RDS broadcasts during intermissions at various points throughout the NHL season.

10-02 - DAVID GETS NAKED

David will be making a guest appearance on a famous Nickelodeon show called “The Naked Brothers Band”.

Nickelodeon will premiere the third season of the hit mockumentary series, The Naked Brothers Band with a special hour-long movie titled “Mystery Girl,” premiering Saturday, Oct. 18, at 8:30 p.m. (ET/PT). 

Guests will include Whoopi Goldberg, Natasha Bedingfield, David Attell, David Desrosiers (Simple Plan), Simon Kirke (Bad Company), Tobin Esperance (Papa Roach), Leon Thomas and Nickelodeon’s very own Victoria Justice, star of the upcoming Nickelodeon television movie Spectacular.

10-02 - SIMPLE PLAN CANCEL PERTH SHOW

The Frontier Touring Company regret to inform that Simple Plan’s forthcoming show at Metro City in Perth has been cancelled.  

Simple Plan were due to kick off their Australian tour in Perth on October 14, but a scheduling conflict has arisen that prevents the band from starting the tour on that date. Simple Plan’s Australian tour will now commence on October 16 at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre.  

All patrons holding tickets to the October 14 show are able to obtain a full refund. All credit card bookings will be automatically refunded. Patrons who purchased via cash or EFTPOS will need to return their tickets to the Burswood Agency or mail them directly to:

07-30 - APPLE STORE PERFORMANCE

Being a member of SPCrew definitely has its privileges.  We have a VERY limited number of tickets for fan club members to attend Simple Plan’s performance at the new Apple Store in Montreal on August 18. (Yeah, really!!)  In order to win these tickets all you have to do is be in the Montreal area on August 18 and send us a picture of yourself wearing your SPCrew t-shirt NOW (or another SP shirt if you have not received your membership shirt yet)! But hurry, the deadline is this Friday, August 1 at 12 Noon EST. Here are the rules:

1. You must be in the Montreal area on August 18 and be able to provide your own transportation to and from the event.

The Stills, Simple Plan, David Usher and Good Charlotte are some of the music acts slated to perform at Apple Store's flagship Montreal location, which opened yesterday at 1321 Ste. Catherine St. W.

Through the end of August, the store will present a regular concert series called iTunes Live From Montreal, with mostly local artists. The shows will be recorded for live EPs, to be made available for sale through iTunes. Rock band The Stills, which opened for Paul McCartney last Sunday in Quebec City, plays today at 4 p.m. Shows next week include Alex Cuba tomorrow at 4, Anik Jean on Monday at 7, and David Usher on Tuesday at 7. August shows include Simple Plan, Aug. 18.

07-11 - SEBASTIEN TALKS ABOUT JULY 4th

Wonder what these rockers were doing on the Holidays? We asked the band how they spent their July 4th and here is what Sebastien got back to us with:

4th of July, what a great American holiday! we were actually in Florida playing a show the 4th of July... but here's the thing, we are Canadians!!! and believe it or not,Canada day is on july 1st! and we spent that day playing a show in our home province of Quebec in a city not too far from Montreal called Quebec city! it was a big outdoor show on a big field and the weather was perfect for an outdoor concert. apparently, between 100 000 and 150 000 people showed up. it was the biggest of the Simple Plan history. it was very overwhelming. it's hard for the brain to process people as far and the eye can see. We had a great time. so, after the show, we hung out with our families a little bit and grabbed some drinks with friends and a nearby terrace. all and all, July 4th was fun, but July 1st was just a little bit better for me. we even got a fireworks display after our performance. our 4th of July being 1st of July in Canada, the whole thing was a success!

06-23 - CHANGE FOR SIMPLE PLAN TOUR LINE UP

Simple Plan are getting ready to hit the road in support of their self-titled third album. There have been some changes to the tour line-up; The All-American Rejects will no longer be part of this tour as the band is currently tied up in the studio completing their new album.  Buzz band Metro Station will be joining the tour along with Faber Drive.
Metro Station recently released their critically acclaimed eponymous debut album which features a collection of sounds and lyrics reflecting the energy of our moment.  Metro Station are the perfect addition to the Simple Plan tour as their hook-filled danceable pop sounds promise to entertain fans across the country.

05-19 - JEFF'S FIRST CONCERT EXPERIENCE

So last week we heard from Sebastien about the first concert he ever attended. This week we have Jeff's response straight from his BlackBerry to your eyes, check it out:

"The first real rock show I saw was Aerosmith when around 15. My parents wouldn't allow me to see shows before that age and I had to get really amazing grades in class to get permission to go. I went with my best friend and this weird band called Jackyl were opening for them. Their claim to fame was a chainsaw solo during one of their songs. Needless to say, I was very confused and didn't know what to think about what I was seeing. They didn't exactly correspond to the idea I had of a good band. Luckily for me, when Aerosmith came on, they were amazing and really lived up to my expectations. I had seen tons of live shows in TV but nothing compares to a real band playing in front of you while you're surrounded by thousands of people who are loving the same songs as you do. The energy level was incredible and Joe Perry, their lead guitarist, really inspired me to do my homework on guitar.
I knew so many of their songs and had a blast. It really raised the bar for a rock show for years to come."

We just found out that Simple Plan will celebrate the success of their recent self-titled album, with a signing session at FOPP's Earlham Street store in London's Covent Garden on Friday 18th April!

Fans can pick up free wristbands at FOPP's Covent Garden store which will allow them access to the event. Wristbands will be available only from the participating store from 8am on the day of the event onwards. One wristband per customer maximum, in person only, while stocks last, subject to availability, at the participating store only.
